The Hand

Will always knew the extent of his and Kate's public events with each other. Never get to affectionate, never get over emotional and be sure to greet as many people as you can.  William always found a need to at least put one hand on Kate while they were in the public eye, he knew why he did do this.  His mother had done it to him while he was a child and clear up until she had passed, William had always found in comforting for his mother to do this to him.  It was a security blanket, to know that someone was always there with you if things where ever going to get overwhelming or crazy, to protect was an instinct and most importantly to love.  He had never been to overly touchy with Kate while they dated, knowing that the press would have a huge field day with it but after their break-up and then once their engagement he really could of cared less.  When William had married Kate at first he was blinded by all the love and excitement, which will always reman but once he actually thought about it she would be in the public eye, event after event, being in the spotlight and now going to share the pressures that he did.  He always had an underline fear that what happened to his mother would happen to her but he reminded himself that his and Kate's relationship was different in many ways from his parents, Kate would come to him if it became to much for her.
Will had nightmares of Kate dying before, in a horrific crash, like his mothers, in the heart of London.  He was worried about her when they were in public, what if someone wanted to hurt her? What if she was in an accident while he was at work? What if something happened to her and he could of stopped it? At once William had instently stopped the crazy "What If?" questions that clouded his mind at times.  Kate was happy and she loved him very much and she told him every single day.  William always had a hand on her back no matter what, during their tour he knew she was nervous and afraid that she would mess up at one point but he knew better, they would fall in love with her, well fall in love with her more than they already have.  The crowds where large, Will had been on his fair share of tours and this was a very first, he hadn't seen the crowds, like this well since never, his parents even when they where still together hadn't had this many people before them.  It had made Will even more worried as Kate's nerves had instensified but he would guid her through this.  If he felt like the crowd was too large or there where too many cameras being practically shoved in her face by the papparizzi he would place a hand on her back.
To William it always felt that he needed to do this, it felt right to place a hand on her back.  The love he felt for her was strong, hard at times to look away from her but he managed...barely.  To be in no contact with he wife at all was just unthinkable, even infront of people William needed to place a hand on her, to reassure her but mostly reassure himself that she wasn't going to anywhere, ever.  He felt that as long as he was there with a hand on her back, she would be safe, feel loved, important and most importantly know that he was always going to be there for her and with her through anything that was thrown their way.  William smiled as Kate waved and laughed at the screaming crowds and then she bent over to accept flowers from a little girl and he placed a hand on her back as she stood straight once more and she turned her head towards him and beamed at him, showing of her dimples and William coudln't help but stare back and smile.  William would always give Kate a hand on her back.
